Will BJP succeed in West Bengal assembly election?

BJP, TMC, West Bengal

BJP has put everything to the test in the West Bengal assembly election and it looks upbeat with the many popular TMC leaders leaving TMC and joining BJP. I have already discussed many things in detail in the post about who will win the West Bengal assembly election. In the next few months, assembly elections will take place in five states and out of which BJP is putting all efforts to win the West Bengal polls because BJP sees its bright chances of victory in this election. BJP got its confidence from the great show in the last Loksabha elections in which it showed great performance in the state.

West Bengal is one state which is still out of reach of the BJP and it wants to conquer it too. BJP has succeeded in many ways as it has succeeded in becoming the main opposition party in the state. To complete this dream, BJP needs to fight Mamta Banerjee's TMC. BJP can't take Mamta lightly as she came to power in West Bengal by uprooting the 34-year-old rule of the left parties. She is the chief minister of West Bengal for the last ten years and at present, she enjoys good support from the people of West Bengal.  The opinion polls of West Bengal assembly election 2021 available so far points towards a narrow win for TMC.

But we all know that things can change at any time and both sides are doing their best to win these elections. TMC was looking at congress for a pre-poll alliance but Congress chose Left parties over TMC. This move will also create problems for TMC.

One thing is clear in the West Bengal assembly election that we will see a great fight in these elections.

Opinion poll West Bengal Assembly Election 2021

west bengal, assembly election, opinion poll,

One of the hot topics in West Bengal and outside is Assembly election 2021 in the state. Earlier, I talked about the West Bengal assembly election in Who will win the 2021 West Bengal Assembly election? In this post, I highlighted all the possible outcomes which we may see in the results. Today, I will talk about the opinion polls conducted by ABP C-voter and IANS C-voter for the upcoming assembly elections.

According to both the opinion polls, BJP will see a good increase in its voter share and assembly seats but still, Trinamool Congress will manage to make the government in the seats. However, this time, Trinamool may bag only 154 seats out of 294 seats and BJP may get 102 seats.  According to the ABP c-voter survey, Mamta Banerjee is still the most popular leader in West Bengal with 53% votes. It looks that she is single-handedly fighting the strong force of national leaders of BJP. She has taken a more aggressive stand and announced to contest the elections from Nandigram.

The good news for BJP is that it may enter in triple-digit numbers of seats for the first time in West Bengal from just 3 seats in 2016. The total number of seats in West Bengal is 298 and any party needs 148 seats to win these elections. BJP looks for new states for its political ambition and West Bengal looks to its main target. All important leaders of BJP can be seen aggressively visiting the state to increase the holding of BJP.

The communist parties and Congress have lost their grounds in West Bengal but they still enjoy some pockets of supporters. Mamta Banerjee has also given a hint towards the possible pre-poll alliance of TMC and Congress.

So, far TMC looks strong on the ground but it is also clear that BJP is giving it a big fight.

Update 09-02-2021 - Times Now C-voter survey on West Bengal -

[As per the latest opinion poll survey available with us by Times Now C-voter, it states that BJP is the first choice as a party in West Bengal while Mamta Banerjee is the first choice for CM. According to this survey 41.6% of people like BJP while 36.9% like TMC. This new update clearly highlights that TMC is losing ground in West Bengal while Mamta Banerjee is still holding strong. ]

Assam Assembly Election 2021 (Who will win?)

Assam,Assembly election 2021

A Few days back I talked about the West Bengal Assembly election and today, I will talk about the Assam assembly election because with West Bengal assembly elections will also take place in Puducherry, Tamilnadu, and Kerala. In Assam, the main fight is between Congress and BJP but AIUDF can make or break the dream of any one of them. In the 2016 Assam assembly election, BJP alliance with Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland's people front (BPF) won the elections in Assam by winning 86 seats. This was BJP's first win in the state and they are hoping to repeat the same this year too.

Congress suffered a major setback in the 2016 assembly elections by winning only 26 seats with a loss of 53 seats from the last assembly election. Congress blamed AIUDF for its loss which got 13 seats with a 13% vote share.

This year BJP is likely to retain its old ally AGP while suspense is still on BPF. BJP is likely to add two or more new political allies in 2021. From the present situation, BJP (NDA) looks to be in a strong position as compared to Congress. Most of the opinion polls available so far are also pointing towards it. As per these opinion polls, BJP or BJP alliance is likely to make the next government in the state.

AIUDF can play a major role if it emerges as a strong third player in the state; however, they are likely to face competition from Obasi's AIMIM.

However, we can wait for some more time to see the clear picture because many things are likely to change with time.

Assembly election West Bengal (Who will win?)

Assembly election, West Bengal,

West Bengal Assembly elections will take place in early 2021 and they are among the first elections to take place in India in 2021. Though with West Bengal assembly elections, the assembly election in four more states (Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry) will also take place, we hear more about West Bengal because in this state we are seeing a direct fight between TMC (Trinamool Congress) and BJP. Everyone wants to know which side voters of West Bengal will go this time. BJP has put all of its energy to win these elections and they are encouraged after the good win in the last Loksabha election. BJP is hopeful of improving its tally from last Loksabha and winning the 2021 West Bengal assembly election.

So far, BJP has succeeded on many platforms like

1) It has emerged the main opposition party in West Bengal

2) It has succeeded in adding some strong leaders of TMC to BJP.

3) It has succeeded in creating a fear phenomenon in TMC because of it TMC asked to Congress to make a pre-poll alliance in the state.

(update 31/01/2021 - TMC's call to congress to become an ally in the state was rejected by Congress and Congress made a pre-poll alliance with Left parties. This move is likely to create difficulty for TMC which is facing the pressure of my leaders leaving it for BJP)

BJP is doing hard to win these elections and it is clear from the constant visit to the state by its top leaders. So far, TMC supremo Mamta Banerjee is also retaliating well by doing rallies in all those places that are visited by BJP leaders. Both the parties are making claim of their victories in these elections. However, there are still many things to happen before the election and they will decide in which direction, the voters of West Bengal are going.

Some pre-election opinion polls are predicting a tough fight between BJP and TMC but they are confident of TMC making a come back. Though, BJP is sure to increase its election tally while TMC will suffer some dent.

It is too early to predict the election outcome of the West Bengal Assembly election 2021 because, with time, many things are likely to change in the state, however, one thing is clear that we will see a tough fight between Trinamool and BJP.
